Oh hello new profile. I've suffered for you. But it's totally worth it. I'm 6 weeks post-op today. I still have some swelling, does anyone know how long it takes for it to go away? Like completly away? I'm not sleeping propped up anymore...should I be? Any recommendations?
Oh surgical hooks, heavy wire, and huge splint, I will not be missing you. You come off in a week! muahha I can't wait until I am once again just the chick with braces :)
Looking good! I bet your excited to get some of your gear off! Best of Luck!

Hi! I stumbled upon your blog today, and congrats on your journey! I'm officially 4 weeks post-op today, yay, and also counting the days when I get my splint taken out. My doctor told me that the splint was supposed to help your teeth stay in the new position. He said that I could get mine removed when after each mouth exercise (opening wide, moving left/right, jutting out the lower) the teeth close to the post-op position. Does that make any sense? I don't know if I'm explaining that properly.
ReplyDeleteI quit sleeping upright around Day 23/24. I still wake up in the morning with some swelling but it goes down during the day.
I noticed a few posts down that you got to drink beer. I was told that I would have to wait 3 months post-op, which I find ridiculous. Did your doctor give you any specifics about this?
He didn't say anything and I assumed there isn't any harm in it as long as you aren't drinking and then taking hard meds. I'll ask my doc about it on Thursday, when I get my splint out woho! If he says I shouldn't have been then I guess I haven't been the best patient....oops :( Why did your doc say wait 3 months?
