Day 9 Post Op

My new profile! I still have some swelling. It's decreasing little by little each day. And check out my smile! Thats the biggest smile to date! I've really been working on moving my lips. I've been making funny faces and massaging them. It really seems to be helping. My face doesn't feel as stiff as it did.

That's it. Things have been pretty much the same. I've started going out more, which is nice. I'm starting to feel back to normal. The only thing is I'm still having trouble sleeping through the night and I have really bad pain when I wake up in the morning. Anyone else experiencing this? I've been taking my hardcore pain med, ambien, and a valium and still I wake up, toss and turn, it sucks!

  1. Hi Sarah!
You look great and your smile is wonderful! Sorry to hear about the sleeping...I normally have a hard time sleeping, my potion is sleep tea, Unisom and read James Michener's "The Source" which always puts me out in about 30 minutes... Hope you feel better soon!
    Cheers,
    Brent

  3. Hi Sarah. Wow, you look amazing! What a difference from your before pictures. You are finished with the worst part and it will only get better from here. I remember being at your stage and I was worried about my lips coming together. Well, I'm 3 months out and the swelling is still going down and my lips are coming together better, but not totally. Don't worry, I know it's hard not to, but you still have months (maybe a year) until the swelling is gone. Also, you have A LOT of hardware in there that's taking up space.

When I first was worried about my lips they were above my braces on the top. I could literally see all my braces, now they are just a little below my braces. I hope that helps, Sarah.

  4. You look soooo different! It's awesome! I just got upper and lower jaw surgery and a genioplasty on Thursday so, 6 days ago. The first night I was still under then the next night at the hospital I slept as well as I could...they woke me up every hour to rinse etc...then the first night at home I slept like a baby but now... I can't sleep AT ALL. I'm lucky if I can even get in 5 hours. It's terrible. I have an appointment with my surgeons tomorrow so hopefully they'll prescribe me something to sleep. I know what you're going through! Hang in there :)

  5. Thanks Julia! Yeah part of the problem is I'm such a light sleeper naturally so being in just a little discomfort will wake me. Ask for ambien or muscle relaxers....they really help!
